Merry CHRISTmas!

We're leaving for Kansas tonight and will return in the new year. If I don't have a chance to post anything while we're there, sorry! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

hello

Just a short update on all things Podjan...

Both Lilly & I are back on antibiotics for our sinus infections/coughs and my ear infection. When will this junk end?! It's almost been 2 entire months of yuck. Until the medicine kicks is, I still can't hear at all out of my right ear and my voice is weak and hoarse. The lack of hearing is driving me nuts! Pray for me. I lead worship the next 2 Sundays and on Christmas Eve...I'd really like to be able to sing and hear what I'm singing!

So far, this pregnancy is COMPLETELY different than with Lilly. I am not nearly as nauseus and sensitive to smells/movement/the mention of anything edible. It's nice not to have to bring "Buck" (my trusty puke bucket) with me everywhere I go! (Sorry, Shannon.) I can feel the baby's flutters a lot these days. Especially when I lay down for bed at night. I can't wait until I can see those kicks! Our ultrasound is on January 3...I can't wait to find out if we're having a Judah or a Molly! I'm thinking this one may be a boy, since I feel so drastically different than I did with Lilly, but only God knows for now. Either way, I'll just be happy to have another little one!

I got some really bad news last week. One of my closest friends from when I lived in Kentucky passed away unexpectedly. I found out the day of the funeral, so I was not able to make the trip down there. It's really hard to process this all without any other friends here who knew him like I did. He was an awesome person, and I will never forget him. I don't have many friends left from my days in Kentucky, but he was one of those life-long types, you know? I have the peace that comes with knowing that he is with his heavenly Daddy now. Praise God that we have that Hope.

On a lighter note, yesterday was our 4th anniversary. We celebrated by having a feast for the ages: Subway for Matt, Taco Bell for me. We know how to party, that's right. We also watched an episode of Gilmore Girls (thank you, Netflix) and practiced our worship songs for the next few weeks. You're all jealous that you didn't get to hang out with us last night, aren't you?! I knew it.

I guess that's all for now. No photos this time. There all on the other computer. Sorry, Grandmas. Until next time, have a great day!

P.S.-If you have a blog and have not updated it since, I dunno, NOVEMBER...Update it please! You are my entertainment during naptime! I depend on my fellow bloggers!

What's new with Lilly...

For those of you who don't get to hang out with Lilly on a regular basis, I thought I'd let you know what she's been up to. Let's see, Lilly LOVES horses (or "pomeys"), reading, my Many Moods of Christmas CD (remember that one, Penn alumni?) dancing, rocking chairs ("rocky, rocky"), when Nic does his Cookie Monster impression, her Jonah & the big fish bath toy...just to name a few things.

She loves eating "cackers"--graham crackers, animal crackers...and banana bread. She also begs me for "fissa" (pizza), "oni" (mac & cheese), & "dia" (quesodillas). She's on a big fruit kick...especially kiwi, bananas, grapes, oranges and apples. The only veggie she'll eat reliably are green beans (& french fries...do they count?)

She is talking up a storm, and has been for months now. I'd estimate she knows over 75 words and is starting to make sentences ("Where Mommy go go?") She asks to call all of her aunts, uncles and "Bama" (Grandma) on the phone daily. She follows directions very well. She's a very good girl!

She's tall for her age and thin for her age. Which makes finding pants for her extremely tricky. It wasn't so bad when the weather was warmer, but I can't really send her out in the cold in capris, can I?

Funny words that we taught Lilly (and that she pronounces correctly): hamburger, appropriate, hallelujah, naked nudie & okey-dokey.

She's been saying "hi baby" to my growing belly. I'm pretty sure she has no idea what's going on, but it's cute anyway!

She calls her Happy Meal toy "Donald" and cries when I can't find him for her. She loves wearing her sunglasses, and resembles Elton John when she wears them. And I can't find them right now. I also can't find her Bambi book, and that is sad.

Here are some Lilly photos for your viewing pleasure...

Thanksgiving Weekend

We had a very busy weekend. Wednesday night, Matt's brother Andy came down from Lansing to stay with us. The guys had a good time hanging out. Thursday morning I put the finishing touches on our Thanksgiving dinner, and we ate until we were stuffed. Then we watched Blades of Glory...a movie I consider to be an American classic. Later in the afternoon we went to Matt's mom's for more food and family time. Lilly enjoyed looking at the pictures (of herself) and playing with a noisy boat thingy. All together, it was a good day. Lilly had a blast with her uncle Andy (she adores all of her uncles!) and was a very good girl despite her very runny nose. On Friday, I woke up at 5 to go shopping with Ann. We started at the mob scene that was Menards and continued on to Michaels, the mall (I don't think I've been there in over 6 months...now I remember why), Walmart and then I hit Family Christian Store later in the day. It was a long day, but I got about 90% of my Christmas shopping done!Saturday Matt got a good start on the Christmas lights, and I watched La Bamba on TV. What could be better?! Here are some photos from the weekend...

FYI-

I received this note from a friend this morning and decided to pass it on...

THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a new movie targeted at children, will be released December 7, 2007. This movie is based on a the first book of a trilogy by atheist Philip Pullman. In the final book a boy and girl kill God so they can do as they please. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "My books are about killing God. "The movie is a watered down version of the first book and is designed to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the the movie and that the children will want the books for Christmas. The movie has a well known cast, including Nicole Kidman, Kevin Bacon, and Sam Elliott. It will probably be advertised extensively, so it is crucial that we get the word out to warn parents to avoid this movie.
