Sam's New Address
My brother, Sam, is a specialist in the Army and has been serving in Afghanistan since last March. In their Christmas letter, my sister-in-law, Shannon (Sam's woman) writes:
"This half of deployment has proven much harder than the first. Sam has had a rough time. He has been moved around constantly and had to adjust to all types of situations. From being able to call home everyday and having a semi-normal work schedule to being way out in the middle of nowhere, pretty much living out of tents with no communication to the States. He has not been able to receive any mail for the past three months due to his constant travelling and back-up with the mail carriers, so it has been a lonely half, especially for Sam. Currently, Sam is stationed in Laghman, Afghanistan and he should be there for the rest of his tour. This is a much more dangerous area. He has already been ambushed during one of his missions and he has only been there for two weeks. The environment there is much more hostile than his former location in Sharana. However, God's provision always shines through. Sam lost his 1st Sergeant in the earlier parts of the deployment and several friends have had severe to minor injuries, but God has kept my husband safe. We ask you to continue to lift him up in your prayers along with our troops. We thank you all for your support, love, and prayers that I know the Lord has heard and answered. Sam is set to leave Afghanistan March 5th, 2007."
We received great news this past Sunday that Sam is beginning to get his mail (finally) and I'd like to give you his new address. I'm sure he'd appreciate the cards, letters and care packages!

Something New
Okay, I know I haven't been able to update this in a long time, so here's the short recap post, and I'll put up a longer post later with pictures and stuff in a day or two.
Let's see, since my last post:
-We had Thanksgiving (a couple of them)
-Soul Pardon had a lock-in and hosted Open Door's Parent's Day Off
-Our Monday night class ended (last night--our next class on hearing God's voice begins in mid-January)
-Matt & I were commissioned as the Youth Co-Pastors at Open Door
-I had a fierce cold
-Now Matt has it
-Lilly got a stuffy nose
-Hilary, Charlie & Caspian visited
-It snowed
-Shannon & Ann had birthdays
-Nic got a girlfriend (and Jen was there!)
-Matt got a raise
-We saw Stranger Than Fiction (it was really good!)
-We played Apples to Apples, and Nic played too (a first)
-Lilly can click her tongue
-She's almost crawling
-I have been SWAMPED with work
So that's the short version. I promise I'll put up pictures very soon. Thanks for being patient. Later, dudes.

Fall Photos & House Update
For those of you who were wondering, Matt & I do not celebrate Halloween, so you won't be seeing pictures of Lilly in a costume, but we did take these pictures exactly 30 minutes before the maintenance men swept up the leaves in front of our apartment!
Lilly makes the prettiest faces when she's teething! In other news, we put in an offer on a home last weekend, and then turned down the counter offer. Back to looking at MORE homes. The right one is out there, we know it...

What's Your Favorite Worship Song?
Okay, I'm looking for inspiration...so I am taking a poll from everyone that reads this blog, and I want to know what your favorite worship song is (old, new, "crossover").... So let me know, and leave a comment...
A Sad Day For Matt
Today I learned that Bob Barker will be retiring this June after 50 years on television and 35 years as host of The Price Is Right (Matt's favorite game show--ask him about his emotional connection to it sometime). His future plans are unknown, but he is considering his options.
This article stated: He said he'd take on a movie role if the right one came along, but filmmakers, take note: "I refuse to do nude scenes. These Hollywood producers want to capitalize on my obvious sexuality, but I don't want to be just another beautiful body."
We'll miss you, Bob.

6 Months Old
Lilly turned 6 months old on October 9th. She's the best thing that ever happened to us! We love her so much! Here's what happens when we "style" Lilly's hair. She gets a ginormous curl-mohawk thingy. Poor Lilly. Someday her hair will do something that she can be proud of, but today is not that day.Riding Grandma's lion.We were leaving Panera Bread, and the clouds looked so amazing that day. I had to take a picture.Lilly think's Pooh is real. He's her friend. So, we were driving around Bonneyville Mill, and when we turned a corner, we came upon these sheep (and their guardians) in the middle of a field. Pretty cool.
What a big girl! She can sit totally unsupported (without the Boppy) for a whopping 5 seconds already! I couldn't be prouder! (I'm a dork.)Me and my girl.
What a beautiful baby! (Sometimes when she is teething, she makes this face.)

Harvest Party Pics
We went to Open Door's Hog Roast & Harvest Party on the 21st. It was a lot of fun.
Dad is way cool. He's my homie.Lilly was tuckered out by the end of the day.
